How you can contribute to the ministry at
Makemie Woods through DONATIONS

We are especially grateful for the many financial contributions made to the camp every year, we quite literally could not operate without them. The Presbytery of Eastern Virginia which owns and operates Makemie Woods is a 501(c)3 organization, and donations are tax deductible.  Here are some ways you can contribute:

Makemie Woods Launches its First Annual Fund Campaign!
Watch your mailbox for our new "Envirolope!"  What's an envirolope?  It is an environmentally friendly mailing envelope that saves energy by using less paper and generating less waste.  This fund appeal will focus on installing a new heating system and other improvements for Oak Lodge (Cabin 1) and also make much needed repairs to the pool.  If you are not on our mailing list but would like to receive a Makemie Woods Envirolope, email the Director. 

This fund makes possible capital improvements, the purchase of vehicles, and helps take care of emergency expenses not covered in the scope of the operating budget. In recent years, this fund has been used to install air conditioning in the Main Lodge, replace old furnaces with safer, energy efficient heating systems, and purchase new playground equipment. Your gifts make it possible for us to do this important work while keeping our camper and guest fees affordable.

Every year we award full and partial scholarships to campers based on need--thanks to people like you we have NEVER turned away any child for financial reasons. In 2009, over $16,000 in assistance was awarded to nearly 70 campers. Through this fund we make the Makemie Woods ministry available to children who otherwise might not ever have the opportunity to  experience Jesus Christ in the Christian summer camp setting.
